By becoming a member of Coast Academy you agree to the following terms and conditions:

MEMBER SAFETY Coast Academy reserves the right to conduct police background checks (if required) to maintain member safety. Coast Academy is a family friendly gym that encourages; Courage. Respect. Honesty and Loyalty. Therefore we will not accept memberships from anyone with criminal convictions (in NZ or Overseas) for violence, drug use or supply or any convictions against minors and/or any current gang member or affiliated parties.

MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATIONS/ FEES  Coast Academy reserves the right to terminate any membership at any time if a member does not conform to academy rules and/or their behaviour is deemed to put another person’s health and safety at risk. Children’s memberships are structured around NZ school terms. While fees are paid weekly, enrolment represents a commitment for the full term. Each child occupies a spot that cannot be offered to another once the term has begun. If a child is withdrawn mid-term, parents will be required to pay the balance of the term in full. Kids payments pause during school term breaks and nominated Christmas closures. If a public holiday falls on a timetabled class, children are encouraged to attend another club location for a catch-up class. Refunds will not be given. Adult members must provide 4 WEEKS’ notice to cancel a membership. Memberships may only be suspended for: (a) Injury–must be accompanied by a medical certificate including a return date. (b) Travel–must be accompanied by proof of travel including a return date. A $50 administration fee applies to all suspensions. Memberships cannot be transferred to another person. Adult memberships run year-round. Fees are calculated over a 52-week period and paid pro-rata.

DIRECT DEBIT / INSUFFICIENT FUNDS Membership fees are collected by way of Direct Debit through a third party called GoCardless. IMPORTANT: Please ensure you have the correct weekly amount available. Insufficent funds will incur a $5 Administration Fee which will be automatically added to the failed payment from your bank account via GymDesk.

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS Students are to wear Coast Academy uniform during class. It is a mandatory requirement for any Student who chooses to compete at a competition (in-house or external club) to wear a Coast Academy uniform, OR have a Coast Academy patch on their Gi.

GRADING / FEES Children’s Belt Grading Fees are set at $30. Adult Belt Grading Fees are $50, black belt fee is $100. This includes the supply of a new belt and certificate. Payment will be deducted via your GoCardless account.

PHOTOGRAPHY Coast Academy members consent to photographs being taken during class and agree to be used for advertising, promotional and marketing purposes.

PARENTAL PERMISSION I give permission for any Coast Academy Instructor/Senior Belt to demonstrate techniques or correct techniques on my child/children during class. I give permission for photographs of my child/children to be used for advertising, promotional and marketing purposes.

LIABILITY WAIVER   This is a legally binding liability release, waiver, discharge and covenant not to sue (the “Release”), made by me, the undersigned, to Coast Academy (the “Club”), to the instructors of the Club (the “Instructors”), and to the members of the Club (the “Members”). I fully recognise there are dangers and risks to which I may be exposed by participating in Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and Kickboxing, which involves strenuous physical activity and extensive physical contact with others, including but not limited to joint locks, throws, chokes, strikes, ground fighting and other similar activities. With full understanding of the risks involved and despite this Release, I am voluntarily joining the Club and willing to participate. I therefore agree to assume and take upon myself all of the risks and responsibilities in any way associated with this activity. In consideration of and in return for services, facilities, and other assistance provided to me by the Club, the Instructors and the other Members in this activity, I release the Club, its agents, the Instructors and the Members from any and all liability, claims and actions that may arise from injury or harm to me, from my death or from damage to my property in connection with this activity. I understand that this Release covers liability, claims and actions caused entirely or in part by any acts or failures to act by the Club, its agents, the Instructors and the Members, including but not limited to negligence, mistake, or failure to supervise. I recognise that this Release means I am giving up, among other things, rights to sue the Club, its agents, the Instructors and the Members for injuries, damages, or losses I may incur while participating in this activity. I also understand that this release binds my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, as well as myself. I have read the entire Release, I fully understand it and I agree to be legally bound by it.

Coast Academy members understand and agree that the Terms & Conditions set out in this waiver are subject to change and are encouraged to check regularly. If a member does not agree with any changes, they must contact Coast Academy in writing to discuss.
